GGPoker Ontario was established in 2022 by NSUS Limited. Before then, it had existed in other jurisdictions since 2017. It is an online poker room that runs on a closed liquidity model and only allows participants based in Ontario to play against each other.

I get news about the huge payouts from the World Series of Poker tournaments every year, but I have never put much thought into them. That was until I got wind of GGPoker and learned that it gives Ontario players a chance to participate in WSOP tournaments legally. In this page, I share my experience on GGPoker's site, including what I liked and didn't like.

Let me start with a quick overview:

What You Need to Know:

What I liked: Legit platform that allows Ontario players to play in WSOP tournaments

What I Didn't Like: C$1 charges on withdrawals (they should be free)

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

My Experience - Great Apps To Play WSOP Tournaments, But Slow Payouts

GGPoker Ontario runs on proprietary software from NSUS Limited, and there is a version for Android, iOS, Macs, and Windows. The merger between GGPoker and WSOP in 2022 brought the best poker platform to Ontario, allowing residents to play from home instead of going to international sites. The site is endorsed by Daniel Negreanu, a poker guru whose roots can be traced to Toronto.

Right from the first glance, I got the impression that GGPoker Ontario is professionally run. The designers have integrated features that make the platform interactive. You can earn 'Splash Items' to add to your arsenal of emojis, short videos, and voice messages. You can challenge other participants to a prop bet and track real-time statistics of your past hands and gameplay.

Player Beware: Problems With Imposing Self Limits

Last Updated: Sat. Aug 16, 2025

I checked player reviews on Reddit and gambling forums to see if players love GGPoker as much as I did. To my surprise, some players feel scammed by the site, claiming the owners use a rigged algorithm[1]. I also came across complaints from players who had to wait for longer than the advertised 2-5 days to receive their winnings.

I found a complaint from a player who took to Reddit to warn other players about the unfairness at GGPoker when one requests support to impose self-limits. After an explicit request to block casino games on the player's account, the customer agent went ahead to block access to the player's account.

It seems to be a problem only at GGPoker Ontario. Other GGPoker sites allow players to set self-limits without contacting support. I think support agents should first listen to players' requests before jumping to conclusions.

GGPoker Bonuses for Ontario - Freerolls & More

New players can claim a GGPoker Ontario welcome bonus, but I will not go into the details about it due to the restrictions put in place by AGCO. Sites like this one are not allowed to promote bonuses in the province. Open GGPoker to see what offers you can claim today, and don't ignore the terms and conditions.

Games and Software - Good Poker Selection With Smart HUD

The GGPoker Ontario app features the HUD (Heads Up Display) that shows real-time updates of key information. You can check if an opponent is loose, tight, or aggressive. The outcomes over the past few hands are displayed to help you identify which players are enjoying a hot streak. Of course, other participants can see the same information about you, making the poker sessions at GGPoker very competitive.

My favorite section was the Rush & Cash games that give you a fast way to enjoy Texas Hold'em, 6+ Short Deck, or Omaha poker. I loved the freedom of switching tables even when I was out of turn, which allowed me to play many rounds in a few minutes. Buy-ins range from lows of CA$0.40 to CA$2 and highs of CA$10 to CA$80.

Other in-house tournaments include All-In or Fold as a Sit And Go tournament, the action-packed All-In or Fold, the Mystery Battle Royale, Spin & Gold, and the Flip & Go. Featured tournaments include WSOP Express, Omaholic Series, Bounty Hunters Series, GGMillion$, GGMasters, and The Weekender. There's also a section for Signature tournaments that includes Bounty Hunters, Chinese Zodiac, Daily Guarantees, High Rollers, Omaholic, and T$ Builder.

You won't find any casino games here as this is an online poker site, so if you are looking to play slots or other types of card games, I'd recommend reading my other reviews of the 77+ licensed Ontario online casinos to find one that suits you.

Payment Methods - 5 Options For Banking, But I Don't Like Withdrawal Charges

The banking page at GGPoker lists 5 banking options for poker players. Interac is the most preferred option in Ontario as it links to many local banks and enables quick withdrawal processing. The other alternatives include PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, and Much Better.

The minimum withdrawal limit is CA$10, but the maximum weekly and monthly cashout limits are not mentioned. It could be because poker winnings could go up to hundreds of thousands or millions, depending on the number of participants and their spending power.

Withdrawal processing takes about 24 hours, but that can extend up to 48 hours when many players are on the site. After processing, winners get their winnings in 2-5 days, depending on the banking option they use. Withdrawals are subject to a $1 withdrawal fee (Might seem small, but can add up if you play often).

Customer Support - Available 24/7, But No Instant Chat Window

Poker players have to bear with slow customer support via help@ggpoker.ca, as the site does not have an instant chat window. However, many of the common issues players raise are addressed in the FAQ section. The site claims to offer 24/7 customer support, but what good is it if I have to wait hours to get a response?

I love that GGPoker has embraced the power of social media and addresses complaints raised on the site's official subreddit. I hope there are plans to extend this same courtesy to users on Facebook, Instagram, and X soon.

Licensing, Security, Responsible Gambling - Valid License, Enough RG Tools

GGPoker Ontario was granted license number OPIG1231707 by the AGCO, which will expire on Apr 3, 2026. The site includes tools that you can use to impose daily, weekly, or monthly self-limits and break in play for a day, a month, 2 months, or 3 months. You can set reality check periods of up to 5 hours and set up Betblocker, NetNanny, and Gamblock to block minors from accessing the site.

Where professional intervention is necessary, the site has links to Canadian Responsible Gambling sites like ConnexOntario, The Responsible Gambling Council, Problem Gambling Institute of Ontario, and Gamblers Anonymous.

GGPoker Ontario For Mobile - I Liked the User-Friendly Apps

GGPoker Ontario apps are available for download on the site. I loved the Android and iOS apps. (I only used these two since I reviewed the site on mobile.) PC poker players can install the Windows or macOS apps, both of which are available for download on the site.

FAQs

Final Verdict - Great Poker Platform, But Slow Withdrawals Are Frustrating

GGPoker Ontario has everything I expected from a poker site linked to professionals from WSOP. Great tournaments, low and high stakes games, and variety in the banking section. I would suggest the owners work on making withdrawals faster so that players do not have to wait days to get winnings. Adding an instant customer support option would also be great. I will keep checking to see if any improvements are made, since the management actively engages players via the GGPoker subReddit.
