BetMGM has been in the news quite a bit, and not for the best of reasons. Ontario's gaming watchdog, the AGCO, issued a $110,000 fine in March 2025 for incidents that took place between January and April 2024[2]. BetMGM has found itself in several troubling situations since it gained its licence in Ontario. The operator breached the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming and was fined by the province's regulator.
The first fine came just one month after BetMGM started offering its services in Ontario. The brand was fined $48,000 breaching rules regarding restrictions on advertising for bonuses and incentives. BetMGM had infractions as it promoted several bonuses via social media.
AGCO issued a $110,000 fine to BetMGM Ontario as its investigation found that BetMGM was offering cash to new customers who registered on the platform. The breaches took place between January and April 2024.
BetMGM was also fined by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in January 2025 for major breaches within the responsible gambling field. According to the PGCB, the operator allowed individuals who were registered in self-exclusion programs to sign up and play. As a result, BetMGM was fined US$260,905[3].
Lastly, BetMGM Casino Ontario has a relatively low score on Trustpilot. Out of 60+ reviews, the average rating is 1.5/5.
BetMGM Licence and Security - Accredited But There's Suspicious Activity
