BetBlocker Launches Greek Language Version
BetBlocker has been moving beyond the English language in the past few years with the French language added to the tool in 2025. In 2026, they have now added Greek.
BetBlocker is available in mutiplie languages including French, Finnish, Japanese, Catalan, Portuguese, and other languages. In an official statement BetBlocker stated that the team is dedicated to the charity's expansion and the provision of tailored support in native languages is significant to providing users with control of their gambling habits.
There are 13 million Greek speaking individuals worldwide and the localization of the BetBlocker app and the addition of the Greek language has been aided by EveryMatrix and Christina Theophilos.
Jake Cachia, Head of Compliance at EveryMatrix said, "EveryMatrix is proud to partner with BetBlocker and support the Greek translation of the app. With BetBlocker now available in Greek, people in Greece can access the tool in their own language, making it easier to take practical steps to pause, stop, or reduce their gambling if they need to."
Christina Theophilos has this to say, "As a Greek-Canadian with close family ties in Greece, it was an honour and a privilege to translate the BetBlocker app into Greek. Many people are unaware that they are gambling on illegal websites that offer no player protection and can cause serious financial and emotional harm."
She also went on to say, "While statistics suggest that at least 2.4% of the population may experience gambling addiction, the true number of individuals and families affected is likely much higher and often hidden."
BetBlocker's Pedro Romero, Chief of Safer Gambling Partnerships, said, "Supporting people in their native language is not a 'nice to have', it is often the difference between someone successfully reaching a blocked state and giving up partway through setup. Blocking software can be technically involved, requiring multiple manual changes to device setting, and many people seek out this support when they are already under stress or at a point of crisis, so clarity and familiarity of language matter."
